Where the vacancies actually are, what schools really pay, when the hiring season peaks — and the three things that get an application shortlisted.
Bangalore has one of the densest private-school markets in India — several hundred CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE and state-board schools, plus a fast-growing pre-school segment. That means more teacher vacancies per square kilometre than almost anywhere else in the country. It also means more noise: mass-posted job ads, agencies that never call back, and "walk-in interviews" that turn out to be CV-collection drives.
This guide is written by people who hire teachers in Bangalore, for people who want to teach here. It covers where the real vacancies are, what schools actually pay in 2026, when to apply, and what makes an application stand out.
Where the teacher vacancies actually are
Bangalore's school hiring splits into a few distinct segments, and your search strategy should differ for each:
- CBSE private schools — the largest segment by volume. Steady demand for primary teachers (PRT), trained graduate teachers (TGT) for Grades 6–8, and post-graduate teachers (PGT) for Grades 9–12. Maths, Science and English vacancies outnumber every other subject.
- Pre-schools and early-years centres — the fastest-growing segment. Montessori, ECCEd or NTT-qualified educators are in genuinely short supply, which gives qualified candidates real negotiating room.
- International-curriculum schools (IB / IGCSE) — fewer openings, longer hiring cycles, higher pay. Most expect prior board-specific experience.
- Budget private and aided schools — high vacancy counts but lower pay bands; useful for building initial classroom experience.
Geographically, East Bangalore (CV Raman Nagar, Indiranagar, Whitefield, Mahadevapura) and North Bangalore (Hebbal, Yelahanka, Devanahalli corridor) have the most new-school growth — which is where fresh teaching posts get created rather than merely backfilled. If you're open to towns beyond Bangalore, schools in tier-2 Karnataka cities like Ballari, Mysuru and Hubballi often add relocation support because local supply of trained teachers is thinner — we've written a full guide to teacher jobs in Ballari, where NCFE's fourth campus opens in 2026/27 with a relocation grant.
What teachers earn in Bangalore in 2026
Salary transparency in Indian school hiring is poor, so here are honest ranges. These reflect established private CBSE schools in Bangalore in 2026 — budget schools sit below these bands, top international schools above them. Experience, subject scarcity and board results move you within a band.
| Role | Fresher / early career | Experienced (5+ yrs) |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-primary / early years educator | ₹22,000 – ₹35,000 | ₹35,000 – ₹55,000 |
| Primary teacher (PRT) | ₹28,000 – ₹42,000 | ₹42,000 – ₹65,000 |
| TGT (Grades 6–8) | ₹35,000 – ₹50,000 | ₹50,000 – ₹80,000 |
| PGT (Grades 9–12) | ₹40,000 – ₹60,000 | ₹60,000 – ₹1,00,000+ |
| Coordinator / HoD | — | ₹70,000 – ₹1,20,000 |
| Vice-principal / Principal | — | ₹1,00,000 – ₹2,50,000+ |
Two things worth knowing beyond the headline number. First, ask how the school treats the summer break — good schools pay 12 months for roughly 10 months of working days. Second, ask about the non-cash items: tuition discounts for your own children, health insurance, and paid professional development can be worth a lot. (We publish our bands and benefits openly — see Benefits & Growth.)
When schools hire: the Bangalore calendar
- 1December – February: the peak. Schools finalise staffing for the June academic year. The widest choice of roles is advertised now.
- 2March – April: second wave, filling gaps after internal movement and attrition become clear. Strong candidates still land good roles here.
- 3May: last-minute hiring — faster processes, but less choice.
- 4July – November: rolling replacement hiring only. Fewer posts, but far less competition per post.
Practical implication: start applying in December–January for the best selection, but don't sit out the off-season — mid-year vacancies close fast because principals need someone in the classroom next Monday.
How to actually get shortlisted
Every principal in Bangalore receives a stack of near-identical CVs: qualification, years of experience, "passionate about teaching." Three things reliably separate the candidates who get calls:
- Evidence of student outcomes. One line like "my Grade 10 batch averaged 87% in board Maths, up from 79% the previous year" beats a paragraph of adjectives.
- Specificity about the school. Mention the curriculum, the grade levels, something from the school's site. Generic applications read as mass applications — because they usually are.
- A short teaching-philosophy note. Five or six sentences on how you actually run a classroom. Almost nobody sends this, so the people who do get remembered.
Expect the process at a serious school to include a demo lesson — we've written a separate guide on how to ace your demo class, and one on the interview questions schools actually ask.
NCFE Schools hires teachers across four campuses — CV Raman Nagar, Indiranagar, Mandur and Ballari — with published salary bands, a 4-stage process that closes in 2–3 weeks, and a reply to every application within 7 days.
